Cosmetology graduates Lauren Moore and Jenifer Tholken began their respective beauty journeys on the sidelines of sporting events braiding their teammates’ hair. Lauren and Jenifer’s braiding helped instill a sense of confidence in their teammates–they looked great, they felt great, and they played great. Lauren styled hair for prom, and Jenifer styled it for other special occasions. The people they styled beamed with confidence and went on to have a wonderful time. Seeing the positive effects of their work inspired both Lauren and Jenifer to pursue career paths in cosmetology.
Esthetician Faith Brooks got her start in the world of beauty in a different way. After struggling with her own acne for years, she decided that she wanted to help those that also deal with skin issues. She strove to learn as much as she could, hoping to acquire the skills to help her impart confidence on those that struggled with acne and other afflictions like premature aging, fine lines and wrinkles, or uneven skin tones. Faith then enrolled in Brillare’s esthetician program, a 30-week bootcamp that taught her proper skincare techniques and even how to run her own spa.

At Brillare, we’re dedicated to maintaining an environment that helps you succeed. One of the ways we do this is by giving prospective students the opportunity to work hands-on. In the first 10 weeks of our esthetician program, students practice on each other. Then, they graduate to working on real-world clients. For Faith, this hands-on approach is exactly what she needed to excel. Other esthetician programs focus less on direct application, and they don’t send you out into the real world to learn. At Brillare, Faith worked directly with paying customers, building soft skills such as booking clients, building a book of business, giving consultations, and using social media to build her personal brand.
Similarly, Lauren and Jenifer were able to practice and refine their trade in our cosmetology program. Over the course of 1500 hours, they mastered the basics of cosmetology and began to work in our SalonSpa. Here, Lauren and Jenifer learned the ins and outs of cutting, coloring, shampooing, and blowing out, all in a synergistic setting. Our open, collaborative environment helped Jenifer and Lauren grow as cosmetologists, pass the state board exam, and begin working independently in the industry.
Brillare’s unique, hands-on environment helped all three graduates reach their full potential. Lauren was able to thrive because of our open-to-growth attitude. She knew that there was always more she could learn, so she asked plenty of questions. This helped strengthen her cosmetology knowledge and propel her to graduation. As a professional cosmetologist, Lauren continues to seek ways to improve her craft—exactly the mindset we try to achieve at Brillare.
Jenifer used our program to slow down and refine her abilities. At Brillare, we’re focused on developing high-quality cosmetologists, and Jenifer became just that. She took the time to be precise and do things right the first time around, knowing that clients prefer careful, meticulous work over hasty applications.
Faith relied on our expert educators to provide her with the information she needed to succeed. Even while working as a professional esthetician, she still stays in touch with her Brillare teachers who continue to provide her support.
